In King’s Landing, the day for Cersei and Loras’ trials has come, and the High Sparrow and the Faith converge in the Great Sept. Loras goes on to confess his sins and atones for it by forgoing his name and his title, then becomes a faithful of the Faith Militant religion. In the Red Keep, Cersei stays in her quarters and Qyburn requests to see Grand Maester Pycelle in his laboratory. Unfortunately, Pycelle’s child spies go on to stab him to death.
After Cersei is absent from the trial, Lancel Lannister is sent to get her. Lancel traces one of Cersei’s spies beneath the Sept, and there, he finds a wildfire cache on the verge of exploding. He gets stabbed in his spine before he is able to diffuse the cache. Margaery Tyrell discovers that Cersei has set a trap, then goes on to warn the crowd to leave, however, the High Sparrow stops everyone from leaving the Sept. The cache eventually ignites causing a wildfire that kills everyone and burns up the Great Sept. King Tommen Baratheon sees all this happening from the Red Keep and goes on to jump out of a window, committing suicide. Meanwhile, Jaime Lannister and Bronn arrive from the Riverlands and also see the Sept on fire. Jaime heads to the Red Keep and watches as Cersei gets crowned as the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms.
On the other hand, Samwell and Gilly finally arrive at Oldtown. There, they observe as the Citadel releases many white ravens to proclaim the commencement of winter. They head to the Citadel and Sam is slated to have a meeting with the Archmaester. However, before then, Sam is allowed to use the library.
At Winterfell, Davos Seaworth scolds Melisandre about the death of Shireen. Melisandre goes on to admit that she was responsible for burning Shireen alive and then states that she did it to please the Lord of the Light. Davos angrily retorts that Stannis still lost the battle, either way, remarking that all her activities were a fraud, and then forcefully makes her admit to being wrong. Davos goes on to ask Jon Snow for his approval to execute Melisandre but she defends herself saying that she would be helpful in the upcoming war against the White Walkers. Jon goes on to exile Melisandre from the North and tells her that she must not return or else will ensure her execution.
After this, Jon and Sansa talk about who is better suited to lead the allied Stark forces and they both suggest one another. Later, Lord Petyr Baelish meets up with Sansa in the godswood. There, he tells Sansa of his real intention to be the one to sit on the Iron Throne with Sansa as his queen, but Sansa turns down his offer and walks away.
Jon goes on to have the many Northern lords, the Knights of the Vale, and the Free Folk to begin their plans for the future war with the White Walkers. At the meeting, the leader of Bear Island; Lady Lyanna Mormont scolds the other Northern leaders that did not come to help Jon. After this, Jon, who is still sceptical, is declared the new king.
Meanwhile, in Dorne, a mourning Olenna Tyrell meets up with Ellaria Sand and the Sand Snakes to discuss how they can work together to defeat Cersei. Olenna is left surprised when Ellaria shows her to Varys who grants Olenna a chance to get her revenge against Cersei by joining forces with Daenerys Targaryen.
Meanwhile, at the Twins, Walder Frey and the Lannisters celebrate the conquest of Riverrun. After this, Walder is shown to be eating dinner by himself and wonders why his sons haven’t arrived yet. Walder’s servant goes on to state that she had baked them into the pie he was eating, then takes off her face to reveal herself as Arya Stark, who kills him immediately by cutting his throat.
Beyond the Wall, Bran Stark, Meera Reed and Benjen Stark make it close to the Wall. Benjen decides to leave them, stating that the Wall’s magical protection stops the dead (and therefore him) from passing through. Meera, on the other hand, helps Bran to a weirwood tree, while there, he returns to the vision of Eddard Stark at the Tower of Joy. Ned goes on to discover his sister Lyanna covered in blood due to childbirth. As she dies slowly, Lyanna begs Ned to fend for her son who is eventually revealed to be Jon Snow.
In Meereen, Daenerys Targaryen tells Daario Naharis that he will not be following her to Westeros. She goes in to declare Tyrion Lannister as the Hand of the Queen. Together, they both lead the combined forces of Essos, alliances from the Ironborn, Dorne and Highgarden and start to journey towards Westeros in a huge Armada as Daenery’s dragons hover above them.
